Welcome to the SafetyKids blog. If you have found your way here, you probably have a pool at home (or are about to) and a question that many families share: how can you enjoy it without keeping an eye on who goes near the water every single second?

At SafetyKids we have spent more than 25 years focused on child safety at swimming pools. From Alella (Barcelona) we design, build and install made-to-measure removable safety fences, designed to help control young children's and pets' access to the water. Prevention, family peace of mind and solutions tailored to each space: that is our starting point, and the starting point for this blog too.

Why have we created a new website?

For years, the same questions have reached us by phone, on WhatsApp and at every visit: how high is the fence? Can it be taken down in winter? What if my pool has curves? The new website is here to answer them before you even need to ask.

We have designed it so that, in just a few minutes, anyone can understand:

  • What options there are for protecting a pool and when a removable fence is the right fit.
  • What our removable pool fenceis like: reinforced aluminium posts, transparent technical mesh and a height of 1.22 m.
  • How it works day to day, and how it is put up and taken down.
  • Where it can be installed and which layouts it supports.
  • How to contact us with questions or to request a quote.

It is not just a new design. It is a website made for busy families looking for clear answers, with no small print.

Safety around a pool starts with controlling access

A young child moves fast, is curious about everything and is drawn to water like a magnet. Many pets are the same. That is why, at a family pool, one of the most effective preventive measures is a physical barrier that separates the swimming area from the rest of the garden.

That is exactly what a safety fence does: it creates a protected perimeter so that access to the water is not open while children play in the rest of the garden. Our fence also has no footholds, which makes it hard for a child to climb. If you want to find out more, we explain it on our page about child safety at swimming pools.

We do not want to scare anyone, just to give you peace of mind. And, in all honesty: no fence replaces adult supervision. What it does do is add a very valuable layer of protection for those few seconds of distraction we all have.

Made-to-measure fences for every pool and every garden

No two pools are the same. On our installations we come across everything:

  • Shapes: rectangular, round, curved or completely irregular pools.
  • Space: large gardens and patios where every centimetre counts.
  • Surfaces: stone, concrete, natural grass, artificial grass, decking or wood, and even areas where several types of paving meet.
  • Access: families who need to add a gate, convenient access from the house or different routes around the water.

That is why every fence is made to measure, based on the actual perimeter. Before proposing anything, we study the space, the routes people take and how the family uses its pool. Then you can choose to install it yourself with our kit (anchors, caps, drilling template, safety latches and a step-by-step guide) or use our professional installation. You can see examples in our real installation case studies.

Design, mesh, transparency and access systems

When a family calls us for the first time, the same questions almost always come up. Here are the short answers:

  • What type of mesh is used? A high-strength technical fabric, built to withstand sun, humidity and continuous outdoor use.
  • Do you lose sight of the pool? No. The mesh is transparent, so you can keep an eye on the water from outside the enclosure. It comes in black, grey, brown, beige, white and green; darker shades usually offer better see-through visibility.
  • Is it better to install a gate? It depends on how you use the pool and where you access it from. We will look at this in detail in a dedicated article.
  • How do the latches work? The fence includes safety latches designed to be operated by adults, not children.
  • Can it be taken down? Yes. The system is modular: you remove it when it is not needed and put it back up easily.

Not just for pools

Although pools are our speciality, the same system can meet other needs, as long as the space and type of ground allow it:

  • Dividing up different areas of the garden.
  • Creating a separate play area for children.
  • Setting aside an area for pets.
  • Protecting certain terraces or outdoor spaces.
  • Controlling access to areas you prefer to keep closed off.

And not just at private homes: we also work with residential communities, hotels, holiday apartments, rural cottages, schools and sports centres. We explain this in detail in uses and sectors. That said, before suggesting an alternative use we check that the fence really is the right solution. If it is not, we will tell you.

A blog to answer our customers' questions

This blog has a simple aim: to answer in writing the questions you ask us every day. Once a month we will publish a practical article on topics like these:

  • Pool fence with or without a gate?
  • Which mesh should you choose, and in what colour?
  • How is a removable fence installed and taken down?
  • What if I have grass, wood or several types of paving?
  • How do safety latches work?
  • What do Spanish pool safety regulations say?
  • How do you protect the pool at a rural cottage or holiday rental?

We will also share child safety and maintenance tips so your fence lasts for many summers.
